The core driver of the local operating model is the empowerment of local companies and entrepreneurs that are keen on developing and growing businesses in the engineering and professional services sectors of the market.

Our focus areas:

CITRINE encourages the growth & expansion of Exempted Micro Enterprises & start-ups through procurement & support mechanisms. The emphasis being on black owned & black woman owned businesses as well as on investing resources into small, micro and new suppliers who currently (or can through development) provide goods and services to CITRINE International and our Sub-Contractors.

CITRINE will also advance Supplier Development in South Africa with its policy of recognising relatively small, unknown and untrained/undeveloped companies and individuals which may supply services or equipment.

CITRINE will foster a strategy aimed at developing local suppliers by utilizing local suppliers/companies, sub-contractors, etc., from within the project community, region, district, or country - small black owned companies.

Localisation Policy

CITRINE recognises that Localisation is an important policy tool for industrial development in South Africa that will assist in growing the economy and the manufacturing sector.

CITRINE has a policy that is aimed at broadening the capacity of the local industrial and manufacturing sector by sourcing products that are locally made. CITRINE will support the enterprises that are producing these products in our own economy and the organization understands that this will multiply the creation and support of jobs and employment opportunities.

Additionally, CITRINE’s Localisation strategy will also focus on job creation and job retention for the local labour force, focusing on unskilled and semi-skilled workers as well as the youth. This policy which will look at the utilization of the workforce and trained personnel from local communities to staff projects, also goes together with a policy aimed at skills development.

CITRINE commits to the provision of skills and workplace experience to formerly disadvantaged minority groups in South Africa as well as the disabled, women and youth, to increase the opportunity for them to be employable within the industry in the future.
